Taichung Public Library & Art Museum
Taichung, China 2013_ Competition
design: Giulia Bortolotti, Giulia Delpiano
The aim of the project was to realize a new building that would have become a piece of art itself that will point out the creativity, aesthetics and cultural sophistication of the City of Taichung.
The new Library and Museum of Modern Art is designed starting from the connection with the landmark.
The multi-faceted and accessible circulation and spatial planning will engage the public, offering a diverse and layered spatial experience. The architecture of the new cultural center, with cutting-edge and cross pathes will provide public spaces between its different volumes. Visitors will be able to reach the park crossing the path at the first floor.
The library and the arts museum will provide spaces independent from each other but still harmoniously connected. The exhibition area will satisfy varying needs and exhibition modes by offering flexible spaces of different scales.
The center has been designed to become a model green building. The trendsetting construction technology answers to the needs of comfort, ecology, landscape, carbon reduction and disaster mitigation, through green facades, water collection, ground source heat pump and natural ventilation.
